Political crisis is Spain dominated the headlines in October, with Catalonia seeking to gain independence from Spain without permission from the Spanish government. Catalonian held a referendum, which was not recognised by the Spanish state and voted for independence. Protests both in support but this culminated in a declaration of independence made by the Catalonian government which led to the judiciary in Madrid bringing charges forward.
